Little bit of France in Northern Finland........

This shop would not be out of place in France. What is striking is that is in Joensuu, miles of away from crispy cold white wine, fresh baquettes and well...from France. I first visited this amazing shop called Sarustiikka two years ago when I visited my home town. The shop had not changed.It is still as inviting, inspirational and amazing as ever. 

Located in a traditional old North Karelian wooden house, you enter through a hallway full of beautifully presented pieces. In fact, the place is so inviting that you want to live there but since that is not possible, you want your house to look like it.

Owner Sari has amazing eye for some lovely pieces and everything is well priced. As much as I love the London shop called Brissi, the prices at Sarustiikka gets my thumbs up and would not look out of place at Brissi. 

With a busy, thriving business and a son, she is still finding time to make some amazing pieces. My favourite ones are the coat hangers made from old, antique wooden spoons and forks. What a cool idea!

Every time i come here I want to buy everything. The only problem are the airlines and my suitcases bursting out of seams every time I come to Finland and visit this amazing shop....

Vintage shopping in Joensuu

It has been two years since I have been visiting my home town Joensuu. While cycling ( bicycling is the best way to get around here), I found the most amazing antique shop.

Romuritari, which is what the shop is called is located in an old traditional wooden house, which is very characteristicto this area. With high ceilings and generous room sizing, this house is simply stunning. Each room is arranged in different themes and I could have literally brought every piece of furniture from there. I am sure you will agree with me! I cannot think of a better location for a photoshoot, which is exactly what we will be doing tomorrow......
